I am SO excited to finally be sharing our Christmas card pictures this year! We took these a few weeks ago and I have been dying to post them, but wanted to wait until our actual Christmas cards arrived at peoples homes. Believe it or not, Clayton and I have been together for over six years and this is the first year we’ve done a Christmas card! I had so much fun shooting with my boys and Kate made my exact vision come to life so perfectly.
The second I saw this dress in Nordstrom I knew it would be perfect for our pictures (and upcoming holiday parties). I don’t even think pictures do it justice – the velvet on this dress is STUNNING. I paired it with simple silver jewelry and black heels for a classy, chic look. And how handsome are both of my boys?! Waffles is rocking his Christmas collar and Clayton is looking hot as ever. I’m so lucky they’re both mine!
I thought it would be fun to share some Christmas date ideas with you guys of things we love to do around the holidays. I know things are crazy busy for everyone this time of year, but it is SO important to date your spouse and make time for each other.
- Christmas Light Tour: put on PJ’s, stop by Starbucks for holiday drinks to-go (salted caramel hot chocolate is my favorite!), and drive through the best-lit neighborhoods in your town for a free show. One of my favorite Christmas traditions!
- Adopt a family: two years ago Clayton and I decided to forgo gifts for ourselves and adopt a family who needed a little extra Christmas love. I cannot tell you how special that was for us. It’s so easy to get caught up in the gifts around the holidays, but we have to step back and remember the true meaning of Christmas and give back to those in need. We decided that now every Christmas we will adopt at least one child and make their holiday a little brighter.
- Christmas movie marathon: Cozy up by the fire and watch back-to-back Christmas classics. My favorites are The Holiday, The Grinch, Christmas With The Kranks, Elf and A Christmas Story! What am I missing? Leave a comment with your favorite below!
- Go Ice Skating
- Go to a Christmas Tree Farm: even though our Christmas tree is fake, there is nothing that will get you in the Christmas spirit more than going to a Christmas tree farm! And not to mention, it smells AMAZING!
- Get the full holiday shopping experience by going to the mall together and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere (decor, gift shopping, holiday treats, etc.).
- Dinner + A Show: Get tickets to see the Nutcracker (or another holiday performance) and do dinner/drinks after.
- Sit by the fire and roast s’mores
- Go wine tasting: this isn’t just a summer activity! Find a local winery (there’s actually one down the street from our house!) and enjoy sipping new wines with your boo.
- Holiday Baking: whether it’s Christmas cookies for the neighbors or a gingerbread house competition, have fun in the kitchen with your man.
- Volunteer together: again, giving back is the most rewarding thing you can do as a couple! A few things we’ve done in the past: make baskets full of snacks, blankets and toiletries for the homeless (with a little note reminding them they’re loved), volunteer at your local food bank, adopt a classroom for those kids in need, make a dinner for a family going through a hard time, and meals on wheels – whatever it is, it’s so rewarding to volunteer with your spouse and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
- Host a Christmas Party: spending time with friends and family is the best part of the holidays, so host everyone at your house and crank up the Christmas tunes!
