I get asked alllll the time about my fitness routine. So today, I thought I would give you guys a little glimpse into what I do on a weekly basis. I generally work out 4-5 times a week. Obviously this changes if I am out of town or have a lot going on, but I try to be very disciplined when I’m home in my normal routine. Personally, I have to work out first thing in the morning. If I don’t, I’ll make excuses or let other things take priority. Plus, I get SO tired towards the end of the day. But I know not everyone has the luxury of working out in the morning, so go with whatever works for you. When I was working my corporate job, I had to be there at 9 AM and I lived an hour and a half away. Which meant, wake up at 4:45 AM, work out between 5:30-6:30, run home to shower and change and get on the road. Let’s just say, it was not a time in my life I miss very often 😉 This girl likes her beauty sleep!
I am very lucky that I found a gym I absolutely LOVE. I go to Core Health & Fitness and do their boot camp every morning. This gym is owned by the SWEETEST Christian couple, Missy and Ty, who have a passion for fitness and helping people achieve their goals. Each day they target a different area of your body through weight training and interval training. For instance, Monday’s are always leg days (and you NEVER miss a leg day!), Tuesday’s are arms, Wednesday’s are cardio/abs, Thursday’s are back/chest and Friday’s are full body. Now, let me preface this by saying that isn’t always the case or the exact order, but what I love the most is our work outs are ALWAYS changing and we’re always targeting every muscle in the body. Ty and Missy are extremely knowledgable in their training methods, and switch things up so much that even members who have been going weekly for 10+ years still feel sore day after day.
I like this style of training because you are really targeting that muscle and fatiguing it as much as possible, which will help build muscle. I can tell you right now, I used to be a cardio bunny (in high school and early days of college) and after switching to more of a weight-training routine, I will never go back. I honestly can barely run one mile straight on a treadmill without feeling like I’m dying. But my body has never felt better! A lot of girls think lifting weights will make you bulky, when in reality, it helps burn 40% more fat than cardio alone (according to Penn State researchers). So basically, when you do cardio you only burn calories while you are doing it, but when you do weight training you continue to burn calories all day long.
I know not everyone has the ability to attend a boot camp, or that might not be your thing. My advice would be to try several different things and find something you like. Working out is tough (my mom always told me, “if it were easy, everyone would do it”) so finding something you love and enjoy going to will definitely help motivate you on those days where you just aren’t feelin’ it.
Here are a few easy ways to help you find motivation for your fitness journey:
1. Find community or a work out buddy
One of the reasons I love my boot camp is the community I have found there. Generally, the same people go every day and it’s fun to get to know each person and encourage each other on the tough days. In college, I always tried to have a work out buddy who would motivate me to go on the days I wanted to skip. I also LOVED Pure Barre in college (and still do!) and always found that same community feeling there as well. Just find something that works for you!
2. Get cute work out clothes
LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD, am I right?! My all time favorite fitness brands are Lululemon, Nike, Adidas and Bandier. Go spoil yourself on something new, you deserve it!
3. Set fitness goals
It’s always important to set goals, and to make sure they’re REALISTIC. Don’t tell yourself you’re going to go from not ever working out to working out 5 times a week. Start small and build yourself up! Don’t try to go to the gym and run an hour straight or lift heavy weights before easing yourself into it. That is how people give up. Make it a lifestyle. Make it fun! Set goals, and once you’ve accomplished those, you can set more!
Sudio Headphones Review:
If you follow my Instastories, you will know that I have been on the hunt for a new pair of headphones for awhile. I’ve had these for the past few years, and as the sound quality is AMAZING, I just can’t seem to keep them in my ears while I work out. So I was thrilled when Sudio reached out and sent me these. Believe it or not, these Sudio headphones are actually my first pair of wireless headphones!
The first thing that caught my eye about these Sudio headphones is how subtle they are, while still being super cute and looking “fancy”. I personally am not a fan of the big bulky headphones that are super showy, so these were perfect for me. And who doesn’t love rose gold and white?! I thought the sound quality of these headphones, the battery life, bluetooth connectivity and the overall look were definitely up to par. These would be a great option for working out, travel or every day leisure. If you’d like to give them a try, the team at Sudio was so kind to offer my readers a coupon – use code “JESSICACRUM” for 15% off your purchase!

Love your blog and these workout tips. I would love to see more and more details. Maybe an example of your workout routine, your favorite exercises, how many reps, etc… would be very helpful and interesting since you look so good and in such great shape!
Also, obsessed with your hair..what curling iron do you use? Maybe you can do a hair and make up tutorial!
Keep up the great work.

Just wondering… do you take pre workout and protein? If so, what brands do you use?! Thank you!

Hi Kelly,
All I take is “Catalyst” from Advocare 30 minutes before I work out! I used to drink Spark too, which I loved. But now I just stick to coffee 🙂 And I ALWAYS drink protein within 30 minutes of working out. Premier Protein is my favorite!

Hi I can’t remember if I saw on your insta story the other day, but do you drink Plexus? I think that’s what it’s called, I forgot to take a screenshot of a slim type powder packet you posted!

Hey girl! Yes, I do! I love it!! I feel like it helps a lot with my energy levels and especially helpful when I splurge on my diet a little. It helps me bounce back without feeling too bloated afterwards!
